Dr. Flavio Capettini

Flavio was born in Brazil, moved to Uruguay where he finished high school and a BSc in Agronomy. After working in barley breeding for 4 years he moved to Minneapolis to do a MSc and PhD in Plant Genetics. Shortly after he moved to Mexico where he lived for 7 years working for the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) and the International Maize and Wheat Research Center (CIMMYT). His family then moved to the headquarters of ICARDA in Aleppo Syria for 4 years. When living in the war became unsustainable, they moved to Amman, Jordan for 1 year. Flavio has been in Lacombe since April last year doing what he knows the best, trying to make better crop varieties to improve quantity and quality of food for the people.
